Lacey Hawthorne, Registered Massage Therapist
Lacey received her training from Victoria, BC’s West Coast College of Massage Therapy, where she graduated with honours in 2017.
During her training, Lacey became interested in people’s varying experience of chronic pain and the importance of treating through a biopsychosocial model of care.
This approach incorporates a more complex view of all elements that contribute to pain, and aims to treat the whole person.
To that end, she believes in the importance of creating a safe and supportive space for each person to be heard, and to work together on a treatment plan that best serves their needs.
Lacey enjoys assisting people with a variety of concerns, and has a particular interest in chronic pain and stress, depression and anxiety (in adults, children and teens), headaches and migraines, post-concussion symptoms and sleep disturbance. Above all, she enjoys helping people tune in to their body to release stress or tension, and move toward greater health and well-being.
Since graduation, Lacey has pursued continuing education in crainosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, and myofascial release. Alongside these modalities, treatments can also incorporate joint mobilization, orthopaedic assessment and therapeutic exercise. Each treatment is tailored to best suit each person’s needs while ultimately supporting their overall wellness goals.
Outside of work, Lacey is also a printmaker and book editor. A native Newfoundlander, she is also delighted to be back home on the east coast, and looks forward to working with the Amherst community.
